Linksys WAG54G has been discontinued. See all Linksys Routers. They are cheap, easy to setup and don't miss a beat. They will only be good until ADSL comes to an end, but if you are having problems with all the old Thomson Telstra rubbish, give this little gem a crack! I have used this device for the past three years while I was traveling with the military and it helped me out in many ways and never let me down.
Great Product, I've never had any problems with this device It could be more durable, it seems weak and flimsy. For 3 years now my Lihksys has operated smoothly, without consequence. I have never had to do any re-routing or anything like that.
It's installation was quick and simple, even for the technologically disadvantaged among us! It was well priced and I was able to buy it as a package more cheaply via my internet provider Internode. Someone create some snazzy colours out there!!! Easy set up. Smooth operation, no gliches. I have tried using other brands and had many hassles getting the product working reliably.
I had this modem up and running within 15 minutes of getting it out of the box. I have tried other brands and Linksys provides an easy to use interface and have never missed a beat in 4 months.
Easy to setup and use Signal could be a little stronger. We have had this product for approximately 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. It was supplied by our computer service provider and they use this product all the time for their other clients. I can't comment if it is value for money as I'm not sure how much it is. This product was supplied to us by our computer service provider.
We didn't set it up but it didn't take very long at all for the computer tech to install and configure everything. I haven't heard of the brand before. We got this in because I wanted to link the Mac to my husbands PC and had been working very well since that very day. The installation was easy and it doesn't take up much room on the desk at all. Since then I have used my wireless laptop around the house - the distance range is great. We thought about upgrading the wireless router to an updated version but there is really no good reason to - If it ain't broke, why fix it?
We had also heard horror stories about connecting to the modern types and we have been lucky enough to keep upgrading our computers with little if any impact on this router. I use my computer ever day and I have never had a problem with it. Had this for about five years and works very well.
No problems at all. I've had this device for over 5 years and it is still going strong. It even works well in the summer, haven't had any problems with it overheating. It may of cost a little more than other routers at the time however it has been worth it. It looks good and it works well, what more could you ask for. Great Product! I bought this product as quite a few friends recommended it to me. It was very easy to setup up. The wireless had a very good range.
It has never been a problem since day one. When the router was new it was great, but Linksys needs to address the overheating problem. I highly recommend Linksys routers for people a bit daunted by network configuration settings their menus are great. If you're after a bit more control and reliability, look elsewhere. Fully featured for its time , easy setup.
Eventually became faulty outside warranty period of course. The NAT table fills up very quickly if you don't throttle connections in bittorrent. This is an older modem now and although I still have mine I have moved on to much greener pastures in the form of a Draytek VG. Worked well in the beginning. Better to use the Pluto firmware than the original linksys firmware.
The pluto firmware made the modem so much better it was not funny. Poor firmware from Linksys. It suffers over time with the heat generated causing the modem to fail resulting in continual power cycle sto nurse it back into operation. Its very sturdy. I do nt use theb wirless. I find it easier to use cables. Less likely to hav e my internet high jacked. Some friends oh mine got ripped big time by there nieghbour who linked in to there internet.
Good price very reliable no cons as yet. This was the best most well featured unit on the market 2 years ago, but when the ADSL system died I had to retire it. I ripped the WiFi card out and put it into my laptop - just plugged right in and replaced an old 11mbps one. Windows XP detected and automatically installed drivers first time. Now I have 54Mbps in my laptop to connect to my new netgear router. I still use it as a switch for connecting my Xbox to my PC so at least it is not a total loss.
Thanks Linksys. ADSL died about 2 months out of warranty. They told me it was damage caused by lightening. Now I read online that it is common fault. Hammering away for a long time, no problems so far. And better one of them all. Stan the Man. Telstra has no tech support for it, so set it up yourself, this is where pros come in - easy!!!!
My WAG54G v2 gave up after 2 years of non-stop service. In the middle of last year, we need to send it back for reconfiguration. Got it back later and been fine until two weeks ago when the LAN gave up wireless was fine. Tried to reset but still the same.
