Oparin has a pretty good idea about the subject. It is very interesting the premise EXCEPT it is so boring and I totally hated his soviet nationalism be because he tried to discredit world scientist's works saying thee best studies about life were on the soviet union. Nov 16, AlexBlokhuis rated it it was ok. It is rather long, outdated and speculative. Oparins most pertinent ideas can be summarized quite concisely, but we end up with over pages due to an overabundance of examples and critiques of other theories which was, nevertheless, a very enjoyable part of the book. If you like to have a nice overview of what people were thinking at the time, I highly recommend it.

Los ejemplos son muy concretos y me parece excepcional pensar sobre la vida de esa manera. Es realmente interesante. Sep 23, RCory rated it it was amazing. We must read this book taking into account what it is: a plausible story of the origins of life on Earth, according to the understanding of biology and chemistry at the time it was written.
It uses a lot the word "demonstration", which I find too big for lucubrations about the past, and of course says nothing about DNA because its role was not known. But in general it's a very good book, even brilliant: the reasoning is clear, it goes step by step, the sources are indicated and its the basis of We must read this book taking into account what it is: a plausible story of the origins of life on Earth, according to the understanding of biology and chemistry at the time it was written.

May 30, Lorenick88 rated it liked it. Muy interesante, muy buenas premisas. Un tanto vagas cuando al origen de la vida se refiera pero da una muy buena idea de como pudo haberse originado. Corto pero conciso. Lamentablemente pudo haber sido mucho mejor.
