This study aimed to know the risk factors of leprosy incidence in Lamongan district including economic status or family income, BCG vaccination, residential density, floor conditions, source of water, contact history, bathing habit using soap and using footwear.

The research was a case-control study. The subjects were the people who had clinical or laboratory symptoms, leprosy diagnosed and recorded in the health center register. The samples were people, consisting of 85 cases and 85 controls.

The data were analysed using chi-square and logistic regression tests, and the amount of the risk was calculated using odds ratio. There were correlations between leprosy incidence and the economic status or family income, BCG vaccination, residential density, floor conditions, source of water, contact history, bathing habit using soap and using footwear.

The main object of this study, which used a quasi-experimental design, was to find out and to improve the treatment of leprosy patients by the Tabib who treat them there. Data was gathered using a questionnaire with an interview and the intervention was to provide training and a pocket book about leprosy and how to detect, control, and manage it there and the role that the Tabib can play in controlling leprosy in the future. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge about leprosy between the EG Experimental Group Tabib after they got the training including the pocket book and the Tabib in the Control Group CG ; i.
